JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. - Deputy Coroner Kerria Carter was elected as the new Johnson County Coroner on Wednesday, September 2.
Carter brings over 17 years of experience in the Criminal Justice field. She is currently the Assistant Professor of Practice in Criminal Forensics and Director of Field Experience at the University of Indianapolis.
Her professional background includes extensive work in identity theft, wrongful death claims, fraud, and security breach investigations with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. She also attended the Indiana State Police Academy for advanced investigator and CSI training.
On social media, Carter stated, "Thank you to my family and friends who came out to support me tonight. I am truly blessed and grateful for your love, encouragement, and belief in me."
This election follows the early resignation of former Johnson County Coroner Michael Pruitt on August 5, following various legal charges against him.
